Fished the LMF yesterday with 2 friends with Yaks. I took my Fish Eagle pontoon. It was a blast! I caught a 4 lb rainbow before 8 am at the rereg dam, and that was a sign of the day we would have. I caught 35 fish total of 8 different species, including my personal best rainbow and LMB from the river. I caught 20 'bows, which is my highest total ever from the LMF. Lot's of 18-24 inch fish, too. At one point, my lure was just hanging from my rod about 2 feet below me and a smallmouth hit it right in front of my eyes! I saw several browns, but I didn't catch any. Today I saw one that had to be at least 15 lbs (and maybe 20 lbs), and I tried to catch it too, but no luck. Still haven't caught a brown from there.
We put in at the rereg dam, and Mac with Ambush Outfitters picked up my truck and drove it back to their take-out at the hwy 70 bridge. Great guy to work with. They have canoes and kayaks, too. If you haven't made this 3 mile float, you should try it. It's a great trip, and you can drive there in 3-1/2 hours easily.

Did you have any trouble keeping up with the kayaks in your kick boat?

Well, we were fishing. They could have left me in their wake, but that wasn't the objective. They were following me around because I was catching fish.
We did the same thing last fall, and I didn't fall behind. Of course, we also went for the full on blast the next day and made the trip in 70 minutes. I guess we had 7 or 8 large groups pass us Saturday.

How much did you pay them for driving your truck downstream?

That sounds like a blast! I have fished from the bank above the dam but never below it. Were you fly fishing or using spinning gear?

Spinning gear this time. I've done both, and we tend to catch more fish and more species on spinning tackle. But not always.

Right on , think I'm gonna have to do this sometime soon. If you don't mind me asking what were you using? Just like spinners and super duper type baits? I've mainly only used like the power bait kinda stuff up there

Almost all rainbows, smallmouth and white bass came on a Rapala CD5 in brown trout. I did catch a few bows on inline spinners, as well as a smallmouth and several largemouth and spots.

I caught LM and spots on wacky worms, small squarebill crankbaits and jerkbaits (3-1/2" Rebel in rainbow trout and a 3-1/2" Storm Thunderstick in rainbow trout). My largest LM (5+ lbs)was caught on a wacky worm. It is the largest LM I've caught there.
