Too much time and not enough moolah.
A 200 dollar entry fee and half the field (128 full field) is out after the first match. To make it to the money round you have to fish at least 4 or 5 match tourneys and if you want to pay only one place you have 127 anglers that fished from 1 to 7 days to do nada?
The 25k money could be spread out for the top 4 or 8 anglers but still its just too much fishing for not enough chances to win money.
Think about it. To win this tourney you're going to spend more time than if you fished the whole Bass Champs circuit.

A 200 dollar entry fee and half the field (128 full field) is out after the first match. To make it to the money round you have to fish at least 4 or 5 match tourneys and if you want to pay only one place you have 127 anglers that fished from 1 to 7 days to do nada? That's the reasoning behind having the two largest rounds on one weekend. Plus there's a little pay out for big bass and GOOD sponsor giveaways. Not sure what they'd be, but better than a bag of worms and a hat. Go on... Too much time and not enough moolah. The 25k money could be spread out for the top 4 or 8 anglers but still its just too much fishing for not enough chances to win money.
You're chances are better for the "average" guy. By that I mean the average guy may cash two checks a year in a big circuit like TxTT, Champs or Media. So you fish 6-8 events a year for two checks. Maybe. If you lose the opening round, your entry is the same as those tournaments or less and you're done. If you go on, you go on and you're done with your entries at that point. All you're in for is gas and lodging if applicable. More economical from that standpoint. Think about it. To win this tourney you're going to spend more time than if you fished the whole Bass Champs circuit.
Five weekends, if you make it past that 3rd weekend you're getting a real nice check.
The only true intercontinental champion.

Possible to add incentives like the TxTT( or some other big trail) getting involved and for winning you get your(not your partners) entry fees paid for the next yr?

I'd just like to see a high end individual trail. Entry fee around $250 and would love to see it with a 2 day format. But it will never happen.

For this to have the draw and payouts, you could do something similar to the layout above, but do it in multiple areas, as qualifiers. Top 4 at each event win money and advance. Think world series of poker qualifiers. The early rounds don't pay much (or cost much per entry), but a large portion of the entry will go to the larger purse. You could charge more for subsequent rounds to raise the payout.

fish to live and live to fish

Have 4 regions to help anglers cut down on cost. Set the dates that the match must take place and the lake in the region. Heck as long as the fish are being weighed on the same scale there doesn't need to be a weigh in stage until you get to say the elite 8. I'd be willing to bet that 90% of the matches wouldn't really even need a scale. You can usually tell who has more weight with just your eyes. Have all the qualifies in the spring then you could have the championship in the fall. Friday elite 8, Saturday final four, then sunday the championship match. Could actually be pretty simple. Mail in entry 30 days before the first matches take place. If your match doesn't show up that day then you win and advance.

OH and say $300 entry (covers the entire "tournament") I'm sure we could draw around 200 people. That gives you 57000k to pay back at 95%. I'm sure one of these trails would work the 1 weekend for 3k

I would think you would have to do 1 weekend a month, but you could make it different per region (avoid conflicts with other big trails hopefully) I know personally I couldn't do 3 weekends in one month

No on the team deal. Pleanty of tems trails around already.
It could be split up over a time period, that way it can be scheduled a little easier for eveyrone.
