Take it from a fat man�stay cool in the summer!

Long sleeve, porous material shirt that allows any and all breeze to penetrate. Then when you start getting really hot, dip it in the water. or better yet, the melting ice in your cooler, and wear it wet.

Stops the UV rays that scorch your skin and the "evaporative cooling" from the drying water, make you quite comfortable!


I ALWAYS wear long pants, usually jeans, cause my legs burn easier than the rest of me. For that i just stick my legs in the water and let the wet pants legs cool as the water dries out.

Sunburn prevention, and heat related problems are averted!

Man you guys wear too much clothes... MD's most skin damage is done in our mid 20's. Shorts, sunshades and a cap and that is it maybe a little 8 SPF block. While I do burn I do so only once a year and it is not too bad. You dip anything in a cooler and put it on you are liable to get a heart attack, kinda like brain freeze.

I wear long sleeves and jeans. No shorts or short sleeved shirts. I try and protect my body from the sun. Shoes with socks, no sandals.

Works for me but HEY nobody ever accused me of being smart.

Streak (and anyone else concerned),

My loving wife bought me a Chillow because I couldn't get to sleep when I was still hot after a day of fishing. Now, I go to sleep almost immediately. I use it every night now. Gotta love this device!

I also take a couple of Full Throttle drinks (iced down) with me to drink on the way home after fishing. It really energizes me.

SOMETIMES WHAT I LIKE TO DO IS TAKE A SMALL TOWEL.......LIKE HANDTOWEL SIZE.......AND SOAK IT IN THE LAKE REGULARLY......OR SOMETIMES EVEN THE ICEWATER IN THE COOLER......THEN LAY IT AROUND MY NECK WHILE I AM BAKING IN THE OVEN, OH, I MEAN WHILE I AM FISHIN. THATS A GREAT WAY TO KEEP COOL.......AND ALSO IS A GREAT WAY TO COOL SOMEONE DOWN QUICKLY WHO HAS ALREADY GOTTEN TOO HOT................BUT, I HAVE ALSO FIGURED OUT THAT IF THIS DOESNT HELP MUCH.......GOING TO GRAB A BITE OF LUNCH IN THE A/C WORKS UNBELIEVABLY WELL TOO!..........ESPECIALLY WHEN THE FISH SEEM TO BE TAKIN A SIESTA FOR THE TIME BEING.......

The main thing is to drink lots of cold water and wear breathable shirts.

I've started to use a floppy "bucket" hat, or a hat with larger bill and a flap that protects the back of the neck. If you don't have that, take a small hand towel and dip it in the lake and put that over the back of the neck - - aaaaahhhhh!!!!! Loose long sleeve shirt mostly, shorts, sandal, sunscreen, and mongo amounts of cold water.

long sleeve columbia shirts and shorts/sandals/hat/ & sunglasses with sunscreen is my normal attire. I drink lots of water and thats normally it!

it helps if you start drinking water the day before you go.if you don't already.

I keep one of those squirt bottles of water in the ice chest. Every now & then I spray my face with it and wet my T-shirt.

I might have posted this already. I have two or three hats in the boat. I keep two in the cooler and rotate them out. That helps keep your head cool.

As a rule you want to keep as much moisture in your body as possible, I will drink a gallon a water some days while fishing, plus a small gatorade. You realy want to drink tons of water the day before and the morning of before it gets hot. Even if your not thirsty drink up. Light long sleeve shirts with a collar and a hat that will shade your neck and ears. Put on sun screen 2 or 3 times a day on exposed area's. Sandal's, Visor,s probably help as much as anything to cool your body, you loose most of your body heat thru your head and your extremities(sp) (hands and feet). I prefer not to were sandal's scared of getting a hook. You all so want to eat some furit something high in potassium. When all else fails imploy the run and gun pattern.
