Just ordered my new Terrova 101# TM. I will be switching it out with my 24v 80# Motorguide that came on my Z8 Nitro.

I want to make sure I have everything I will need when it comes in so I can install it.

My biggest concerns are the mounting issues. Is there an adapter plate made that just bolt to the existing holes in the bow from the motorguide? If not, what would be the best way to mount it? Anything that does not come with the motor that I will have to have before I can mount it?

Thanks ahead for any tips and or previous trial and error stories.

Never seen anything that will do what you want it to do, not saying it can't exist but if it does I've never heard of it. You will most likely need one of the adapter bases, look on the Minn kota site and check them out.

TCM,

I have a 80# Terrova mounted on my Triton TR-186.

You can mount the Terrova directly on your bow, you will most likely have to plug your existing holes.

Or you can purchase a MK Quick-disconnect plate, this plate is mounted to your bow, then the Terrova is mounted to the plate. This would be useful if unloading/loading on a steep boat ramp.

Terrova mount does extend out from the bow and you have to be careful on steep ramps during unloading/loading not to break it on the trailer roller. Never a problem sofar on my ramps.

Terrova needs to be strapped down when running as accidental deployments in rough water have been reported. I use a simple backpacking web-type strap with a clip I got at Academy.

If you are going to use the built-in US2 sonar, you will need the Humminbird or Lowrance adapter cable for your unit.

If you are going to use a side-imaging transducer and you have Humminbird then here is an URL on running your transducer cable:
http://www.crappie.com/crappie/fishing-e...ucer-mount.html
Lowrance side-image transducer cables are to big to run in the shaft-slot.

Also make sure your remote batteries are good or carry spares, as some Terrova functions like Spot-Lock, etc require the remote.
If the remote is dead, then Spot-Lock, etc are not available.

I also have the foot-pedal for fishing in stumps, better than the remote. IMO.

No it will not fit your existing holes. Yes it does comes with everything you need unless you want a quick release mount. I did not like the qr mount so mounted mine direct. I had to use the back 4 holes but used longer bolts and double lock nutted them on.
The only thing I dislike about the Terrova is the mounting bracket. It has to hang about 6" over end of the boat.
You will love the way the motor works and it's functions.

Retirement best job ever.

It does seem kind of odd, like it wasn't even designed to go on a bass boat? I think I'm going to make my own adapter plate out of 1/4" Aluminum so I can use existing hole in boat plus all six holes from Terrova. I found a few good ideas doing some searching on the net. I have a pretty good idea how I'm going to make this work, now all I have to do is wait until I get home a week from tomorrow to get started. I will document my progress with pictures and post if it works out, maybe it will help someone else out later.

Can't wait to try this thing out on Falcon in a couple of weeks! I'm am one of those foot control challanged individules. Nothing I hate worse then fighting the wind trying to stay on a spot with a foot control TM. Just not coordinated enought to run TM, keep from falling in the lake, & fish all at the same time.

Yes, the only thing worse than foot pedals are NON-recessed foot pedals! They should be freaking outlawed, man they make my back & hip hurt after a few hours.

Here is the aluminum plate i made to not drill new holes from motorguide to terrova. Metals 4 u in dallas cut it to size for $15 then i made a template with cardboard for holes and trimmed the U in it.

And if you have a fiberglass non skid floor the pedal is all over the place as it wont grip and gets scuff marks from all the little teeth on the bottom side of pedal. Problem solved
