I have a 997 H-bird.It works fine at idle speed. As soon as i get up to about 1600 RPM it show a flat line and shows 1 ft. deep.It has worked fine for 2 years, nothing has changed , transduser is good and not moved. I put in a cheap Lorance and it does the same thing at the same RPM. I have talked to everyone that might know something and all i get is "wow, I aint never heared of that". I'm thinking it's some weird frequency or signal the moter is throwing offbut nobody knows how to check it. 2010 skeeter 21I, no one will give me any help!!!

Yeah, sounds like you're getting interference from your motor. I'm sure there are some folks here who know how to diagnose and/or fix it.

Run the engine through the RPM range with it in neutral to see if you get the same results.

Sounds like RF/Electrical noise that is producing 200kHz frequency at that RPM Range. Does it change at higher RPM?
I would make sure to isolate the Transducer Cables away from the Electrical Tach wires as much as possible.
Might also call HB Customer Service they may have tips on reducing the RF Noise 800-633-1468 Humminbird is very proactive on reducing RF Noise.

i did run up the rpms in neutral but the yamy only hits on 3 cylinders and it didn't "screw up" so that didn't really tell me anything. Doug, it does not change at high rpms. I did call H-bird and they were not much help but that was before i figured i had a RF noise problem...i'll call them back. Thanks for the info fellers.
