I just read this mess to a buddy of mine who guided here for 40 years and he stated this is "living proof that if idiots could fly then Toledo Bend would be an airport and (you'd) be the air traffic controller".

Who knows what's true, but...I heard KVD say he purposely doesn't go after local knowledge of a lake. He said those had rarely panned out for him in the past. He just prefers to find the things that works for him. I don't know if that's true or not, but it's a heck of thing to call a man a liar. And that's only 1 guy out of 100.

How'd he do on toledo smile

Seems that would be proof that it's true. If any guy wanted to buy info, he's got millions to do it with, and plenty of people out there willing to help him.

He would have done much better, but he had some pigs come unbuttoned on Friday. I talked to his marshal and he said KVD missed some at the boat that looked to be 4-5lbs. He didn't limit out. He also asked him why they went south to fish. KVD told the marshal that its the only part of the lake he is familiar with and with the limited practice time, he didn't have time to find other areas, so he fished areas he knew from previous tournies.

Is it the guide who had to have his clients pulled out of the lake one day bc he was drunk and drove his skeeter thru a stump field and threw them out??

No, but it it sounds like you may have some stiff competition for air traffic controller lol!

Don't put "tops" in a public lake and your problems are solved.

Saying ALL pros get help is just silly. There are still some that do it on their own. Its not like they can't read a map and I am sure any of your spots can be found with a map. a depthfinder and some common sense. After all that is how you found them right? There are very few secrets out there anymore on any lake. Thanks to the popularity of bass fishing and side imaging the learning curve is not near as steep. By the comments of a couple of you I guess you guys win all the time at TB and dominate there. I mean hell you find your own fish on your super secret spots and no way some pro is just gonna show up and find them. I mean a map is useless and only local guys like you can figure out the best spots to brush out. Give me a damn break! Get over yourselves just a bit. Some guys fish at the higher levels because of abiklity more than just money. Some get help and some get a lot of help but some do it all on their own.

Look, all I'm saying is that they all like to pretend they find all their own stuff. And at times they do, and other times they may have been given some spots and then they go out and find similar. Sometimes they go to those spots and they don't pan out so they have to scramble and find their own. That last sentence sums up why they are 'Elites'. They get on fish and catch them 3 and 4 days in a row and in many cases have practiced for a few days before that. To be able to go out and put 3 solid bags of fish 3 days in a row after all of the above is extremely impressive. IMO, that is what seperates the Pro's vs. the Joes the most. Their ability to adapt and change on the fly, their ability to manage their tournament. We can all find spots, but utilizing them effectively especially over multiple days and multiple weather condidtions etc. is why they are the 'Elites'

hmmm. let me think. no knowledge of the lake. limited information available. sorry lake maps. yeah, I'd never check the dam for fish under those circumstances.

The area Chapman and Pace were fishing isn't really considered a secret..... I've only been on that lake a dozen times or so in the two years i've been at SFA and have actually caught fish around where he was fishing before. It's not rocket science, it's fishing...... that area is in no way a needle in a hay stack as you're making it seem.
