I was out in the cove waiting for father to pull the trailer down. I was actually expecting them to unload an old standup jetski or something out of the truck since the backed down the ramp. When they started carting coolers etc to the pontoon I was too suprised to even comment.

JUST TRY TO IMAGINE WHAT IT WOULD BE LIKE IF THOSE KIND OF PEOPLE USED THEIR BOATS AND WENT TO THE LAKE MORE THAN 2 OR 3 TIMES A YEAR

I am not sure if it is that they do not care or they do not think. I seem to run in to both breeds. I think part of it is that pleasure boaters do not have as much experience and do not care about getting loaded and unloaded quickly. They are not trying to beat sunrise or anything.

Lake Austin outlaws PWCs on Holiday weekends..... of course that doesn't get rid of the "other" pleasure boaters.. but at least the "jetfleas" aren't around.

Yep. Some of the young pup wakeboarders dont care, but i think most dont kbow or realize they are being discourteous.

I know this is really off topic, but the same thing happen to me at the ATM this morning. I and two people behind me were waiting at the ATM as the passenger who had been waiting 5 minutes previously was talking to the driver standing at the ATM for no fewer than 5 minutes. Trust me I timed the second vehicle after the first.

I could not help, but think this is what we get for warning labels. No more law of the jungle. Of course I would probably not be around anymore, but at some point you think sanity would dictate terms.

I know this is a week in the past, but on this same Monday morning on Ray Hubbard I and about 6 other boats were fishing the north east side of I 30 bridge and a tubing/sky boat came ripping by to avoid the wind within less than 20 yards of each fishing boat trolling about 20-30 feet off the rocks. Huge wake. I rocked in my standing seat for a good 4 or 5 waves in the wake. No wave no nothing. Just another day at the lake for the guy in the sky boat. I was shocked at the boat edicate.

I guess the part of this that gets me is he really had to go out of his way to do this. It is a very crooked line to the bridge the way he did this.

You talk about boat rage. I really did feel it that morning and I got the least of it as I was just returning my run from the Marina back to the bridge on the rock wall. One poor guy was about 10 feet of the rip rap when that guy zip by him and a pontoon boat about 50 yards off the rip rap. An hour later and decided to leave the lake due to holiday traffic, on the way back to the ramp and at the ramp I realized I made the right decision. 4 or 5 instances of people just not being in tune with the lake and what each boater should do to avoid the other.

If you have owned a boat for 10 or 20 years, but only take it out to the lake once or twice a year. Remember you are the new guy. Be careful of what you do out there.

People do nto think any more. I see them about half the time I stop to get gas at Murphy Mart. Murphy Mart in Rockwall gets real busy at times. It does not help that it takes a couple of minutes just to get the pumps to activate. @ out of the last 3 times I have seen this. Once was a lady sitting in a diesel 3/4 ton in a lane that does not sell diesel. She was there when I pulled up and stayed another several minutes. Othe times there are people that just sit in the cars douing whatever after they finish pumping. Then there are those that have to wait for the pumping to finish before walking in to the store to just buy a drink. World is full of non-thinkers and getting worse daily.

I am glad this topic is still sort of running. Here is a quote I ran across that kind of sums it all up.

"The problem is not that we have too many fools, it's that the lightning isn't distributed right."

I've been fishing since as long as I can remember and that would put me right around the 60 years mark. I'll have to say after making all those years of observation and direct involvement having crossed paths with many a fool, I would have to say they have taken over the gene pool, and are thriving.

Yes they are, I even bet some who have posted on this thread have done things that made other boaters upset, and in turn they posted on another forum.

I have made some mistakes, and witnessed many others, most of those mistakes I have witnessed the driver did not think they were in the wrong. Funny how that works.
