Have a 94 Skeeter with a 94 Mariner 150 Mag 3. The tilt/trim quit working after loading up. There are 2 hot wires and 1 ground. The 2 hots go to each silonoid. Hooking jumper cables up to a good battery and then hooking to one hot and ground should make motor go up or down depending on which wire connected to right? Neither would make it work. What do I need to do next? Is the tilt trim motor bad? Is there a way to test? Could there be loose wires in motor? Can the motor be repaired? Is this a do it yourself job? Please help?

Tap the trim motor with a wrench or something while trying to trim. Not real hard just enough to rattle it a little bit.

Trim motors are easy to replace if that is what it is.

I think they may sell rebuild kits as well. Like any motor the brushes will wear out or corrode.

If taping it works better repair or replace it because it is a temp fix

Yep. Just went and tapped on it with a wrench and it will go up and down while tapping. Doesn't sound right though. Gonna need new motor or take off and take to electric motor shop? What do y'all think?

I know when starters go out I take to a electric shop and they re do the brushes and stuff for like $40. You think the tilt trim motor would be the same?
