Anyone know if you can jig fish while out on this boat. Looking at a 24hr trip with these folks any comments.

Usually not on party boats (in my experience). Too many people and lines in the water.
They may allow more flexibility on the 24 hr trips though. I'd throw in the gear just in case and ask when you get there. When are you going? I'd like to hear how the trip goes as I'm considering one of the 10/12 hour trips soon.

I have fished both the Texsun and the Capt John on their overnight 30 and 36 hour trips for tuna and the Capt John on the 12 hour day trip. I like the Capt John better because you bottom fish out to the floater (usually Boomvang) then tuna fish all night then bottom fish back. On the trip out, you can fish however you want. Some people jig, most use the one hook bottom rig for snapper. I usually use a snapper slapper, three hook bottom rig for beeliner or 2 hook rig for red snapper, but I keep an extra spinning rod handy for mahi or ling if they show up.
The tuna fishing is primarily jigging, although I keep a popper rigged up and a chunking rod if the jigs are not producing.
The main difference between the 2 boats is that the Capt John has 40 bunks and takes 40 anglers so everyone gets a bunk. The Capt John also bottom fishes twice during the trip vs just on the way out.
If you have any other questions, send me a PM...

Good trip lots of big sows, king and few ling. Long ride is tuff with no AC hard as rock seats but fishing spots had plenty of fish want to go back and try another ride though.:)

Getting ready to book a trip in July, Snapper reports I'm see are amazing

Did you bring your own gear and bait, or use theirs?

The 24 hr and one min trip are on the Texsun II that way you get 2 limits I was on the Texsun II. Capt John is 12hr trip and this is the one I would book with they have been doing very good also. We used their gear on the bottom and ours for pitching out a bit worked on a few dordo, ling and kings.
