I was out at Lampassas river yesterday evening, had been fishing for 3 hours was throwing out every live bait I could get my hands on shad, perch, crayfish, frogs, worms, superworms then went to punch bait, chicken livers vienna sausages, even tried setting them at different depths and different sections of the river all I ended up with were channels 10" and under and a load of Drum.......Now the part that got me a little upset. Some kids show up and start fishing up river from me and throw 2 lines in within 20 mins one of them lands a 13lb flatty on crawlers......thats when I went ahead and packed up my 5 poles and called it quits.

Sounds like you were fishing the wrong spot. If the fish aint there, dont matter what bait you throw in the water.......

Yep. Parttime nailed it. Most of the time, bait wont bring fish to you, you gotta take the bait to the fish.

Sometimes that's just how it all works out and other days it works the opposite way for ya

But thanks for the advice all, it was just a kick in the balls when my situation happened....kinda a big downer. I wanted to throw all my fishing gear in the river and walk away.

This has happened to me on ray hubbard some guy fishing 10 ft from me was catching nice cats throughout the day and I was casting as close as I could to him without pissing him off, but didn't get one bite. Made me mad cuz he stayed there all day and I didn't have a chance to cast in that perfect spot.

Been there on both sides of the fence. Best was about 10 years ago. Buddy and I limited out in less than 2 hours from launch to load back up. Boat was at the hole when we pulled up. 50 yd difference? They never caught a single fish the entire time we were there. We pulled anchor, looked back, they were dropping anchor where we fished. Not sure how it ended up for them. Worst time? 2 weeks ago...I caught about 5, watched a boat 100 yds away tearing them up oh well, you win some, you lose some

Maybe they were rigged differently.
