Just blows my mind. Wasn't too long ago 150hp was a BIG motor on a boat. Now a 250 can't even get a boat on plane. When will it end?

I still think that motor should make any bass boat jump on plane with a 25pitch Fury.

Update: I tried a 25pitch power tech prop in a 4 blade. It really didn't help much and I lost 6 mph. Boat seemed to handle better but I wasn't after that. I did notice that when I was loading the boat normally I can push the boat on the trailer but when I tried to the motor wouldn't build rpm it acted like someone was holding my prop?? Any suggestions?? I didn't get a chance to changeout props again to verify but I believe the fury was better.

Z-8 call Texas Machine Works and set up to have your motor dynoed to check the power curve. I bet they will find something wrong. Problem you have is, if you get a prop to come out of the hole like you want, your going to have a problem with the full throttle rpms being to high. The only guy here that can find and will work with you to get the right prop set up for your boat is Steve (here on TFF)

For all who care these are new figures
I'll start by saying the main problem was clogged air vent holes
4 blade 25 power tech prop with 2 people 1/2 tank of gas loaded down
1) empty live wells
7.4 seconds to plane
68 mph @ 6000 rpm
2) full live wells (30 gallons)
10.4 seconds to plane
66 mph

3 blade 25 fury prop with slight scuffs
1) Full live wells
8.6 seconds to plane
70 mph @ 6000 rpm
2) empty live wells
5.7 seconds to plane
72.5 mph

I figured out the clogged vent problem by talking to mr. Pender at tracker marine in Austin. Once he told me how that system operated I realized by overfilling the live wells and plugging the vent holes. I did that today and ran for 25 seconds without planning and shut it down. Then I uncovered the holes and the boat went over just fine. Now I want my 26 fury back!

Note for the test results above I did raise the motor several times to achieve the best results on the 4 blade and the 3 blade I did not run them at the same hieght.

Z8, Thanks for the stop watch data, I'm glad it worked for you. Transom vents may seem like a small item but they do a big job.

Yep! because they also keep your livewells from over filling. Still having problems with having to be carfull and not put to much water in your livewell or your boat wo`nt want to get on plane. Maybe they need another set of holes, hoses and fittings just higher than the overflows in the livewells. Glad it all worked out except for your 26.

The older Nitros had the vents in the gunnels instead of the live wells which I think was a better way however, not as pretty.
