Awesome pics!
Can we get some more details on this trip? Are those big sharks just around in the spring or all yr? What part of the coast?
Bet that was a blast!
Don't worry about the mule, just load the cart

Wow....that looks like a lot of fun! Do you catch and release those things? Never fished the coast.

Bet that was a blast! The sandbars are around in the spring on the upper coast. You can catch large sharks year round on all part of the coast but have a better chance on the souther texas coast around pins. Nice catch!! What do you do with them? Steaks? I tag and release all the sharks that I catch unless it will not survive the release. The sandbars have to be released and cannot be kept because they are a federaly protected species.

They look to have been gravid females. PINS may be an aggregation site for pupping. Are you aware of any data supporting this?

They look to have been gravid females. PINS may be an aggregation site for pupping. Are you aware of any data supporting this? Actually their migration in Texas starts in PINS around Dcember January and make there way up the Texas Coast. By the time they reach the Galveston area they are getting close to pupping out and from the best of my knowledge they start to head farther offshore and pup out. The smaller ones that we caught were probably last years pups, being that they were to big to have just been pupped out. The whole migration takes about 5 months over the entire coast. Once you quit catching them down south head farther north and you should find them again. We tag most of the sandbars that we catch in case they are caught again to be reported to the apex predator program. Hope this helps out.
