Got a family vacation planned to costa rica. Definitely gonna try and do one day of peacock or rainbow bass fishing. Will be staying in the Arenal area. Wondering if anyone ever been down there and had any guide contacts so I could set up in advance.

No guide contacts...fished peacock bass in panama for a number of years...can attest to their aggressiveness...very fun fish and colorful with the fluorescent orange to the gill plates

Not aware of any peacock bass in Costa Rica. Guadapote in Lake Arenal is your best bet.

There are guides around the lake that will take you on a day trip. Most hotels will put you in contact with them.

I will try to PM you and could email you some photos I took a couple of years ago of some Rainbow Bass a friend and I caught at Arenal. Also photos of the lake and a House Boat / Bass Boat set up that was there at the dam area when I was at the lake. This outfit had what looked like a couple of x-Pro Bass Boats with torn and tattered Purple Crown Royal wraps and a Shasta type House Boat that someone said came from the States in sections and was re-constructed at Arenal. Anyway Rainbow Bass there size about the same as Smallmouth. Hit the same stuff, fight the same, and taste the same! The Pure Life

Thanks for the info what kind of numbers will one expect for a day on the lake,is it pretty action packed and do u think I should go to the hassle of bringing my own rod and reel. I would only be able to fish one day.
