If your speaking of the BLT big fish open, it has been postponed. Low water levels are to much of a problem!

09Skeeter21i,

I am sure there are some people that are not happy about us having to postpone the tournament, and I am one of them. We have been looking forward to this tournament since last year's tournament, and we do our best to keep to the schedule that was posted about a year ago. In the three to four years that we have been doing tournaments, we have only had to postpone/reschedule less than five tournaments (we have done hundreds of tournaments). I feel that is a pretty good track record, but I respect your opinion if you believe otherwise.

The reason we waited to postpone the tournament was that we were hoping that Hubbard Creek would catch some of the rain that North Texas received this week, which would have given the lake just enough water to allow for multiple boats to get into the stalls at Sandy Creek Marina. After speaking with Sandy Creek Marina, we decided that, since the lake did not receive any of the rainfall, we would be unable to use their boat stalls for multiple hourly weigh ins with mutliple boats trying to weigh in each hour. We considered moving it to the ramp at the dam, but the water is so shallow there that we felt it would have been just as bad.

Again, we apologize for any inconvenience our decision may have caused to anyone. We put a lot of consideration into any schedule change that we make, and do our absolute best to keep to our original schedule. We will monitor the rainfall and lake level at Hubbard Creek, and post the rescheduled dates as soon as we have them.

If you any questions or comments, please feel free to give me a call at 214-616-5693, and I will glady listen to anything you would like to say.

Chris Davis

So if you knew that the lake was too low with only a chance for the lake to catch a little rain, why would you wait till 2 days before the tournament to postpone it? Think about this in todays economy. People taking vaction to fish the tourney. All the people that will spend all the money on gas to drive to HC without knowing it has been postponed, everyone who will be out for motels, not just the ones who did not cancel their rooms in time but the motel owners who have turned away people because they thought the rooms were booked? I understand why you postponed the tournament, I would have also, but why would you wait on the slim chance for rain to only cancel 2 days before?

You make valid points and I understand if you are upset, but I would much prefer you call me so that we can talk in person. It is up to you if you would like to do so or not, but I do not want to get into a long conversation that could possibly turn into a bashing on a public forum.

My number is 214-616-5693, and my name is Chris Davis.

I didn't see where all these people were on the early signups, this sound like pot stirring is all. BLT guys do good work. Quit crying.

Think what you want. If you think you can run a business by cancelling at the last min and expect to stay in business your wrong. If you want to talk smack put you money where your mouth is!

Skeeter, why are you bashing them? Were you going to fish the deal? I dont see that you have ever fished a blt event. From what I can tell you only fish media. I dont see your name on a blt page this year or ever. It is fine that you fish media west, Tommy is a great guy, alot of us out here fish both many times. The lake is very low, the early signups were low, it is what it is. I dont blame them a bit. And you may not know this depending on how long you have fished media but they are not perfect either. I recall them pulling an event off PK the night before at 8pm we got the call because of poor fishing and moving it to Eagle mountain. There were already people in the hotels that night. This was before Tommy and Joe, it was the cowtown division. You dont fish the events that is fine, worry about the trail you fish. Tell the truth how many BLT events have you fished this year or ever? Unless it was under an alias I dont think very many.
