Are the Bass Pro Extreme rods good?

I was thinking about getting a 7'6" H Extreme rod with #65 braid for Punchin', Jigs, Frogs, and Alabama Rig.

Right now they are on sale at BPS for only $69.99, so I was wondering if this was the best option at this price for these techniques.

What opinions do y'all have on these rods? What other rods would you recommend are better around this price range?

decent rod, but heavy like Jay stated. I had to borrow one in a friend's boat a few weeks ago to throw a frog. I thought I was offshore fishing! My arms were sore at the end of the day!

I have a 7'4" medium action paired with one of their Extreme reels in 5.3:1 for cranking. It's freakin awesome. The cranking rods are extremely light, but like others have said, the heavier action rods weigh a ton. I have a 7' MH thats BPS extreme and it just weighs too much. It's like fishing with a pushpole.

A footnote. The 7'4 rod is the newer im9 graphite that BPS is starting to carry. The 7' one is the older model.

Can an H2O Ethos 7'6" XH handle a 1.5oz. punchin' weight?

They feel kind of light, and the lure weights printed on it max out at 1-1/4.

That's why I was looking at the Extreme. I wasn't sure if the Ethos can handle this.

I have a 7'-6" MH Extreme that I use for throwing heavy cranks and I like it a lot for that but I don't really use it for anything else and I have a 7' MH that I use for worms and jigs - I Have Pro Qualifiers on both and they're pretty decent rigs.
