I've never known if wearing a PFD in a kayak was actually a requirement by law or just a strong suggestion. I always wear mine but I know some people dont. Well, this weekend Im heading to New Hampshire for vacation and they require a boaters safety course to operate a boat which I will be doing while Im there. They accept the Texas course so Im working on it. At one point in the course it clearly states that in Texas you must have a PFD on board even in "Canoes, Kayaks and other paddleboats". I guess the answer is you technically only have to have one on board but if youre over 13 you dont have to wear it. I'll keep wearing mine anyways.

I always wear mine while on the water. I was fishing out of a boat one day last year and forgot to take it off when we would stop to fish a hole. Finally my buddy says you know it's ok to take off the PFD. LOL!!!

You hear too many tragic stories that could have been easily been prevented by wearing a PFD. I'll keep mine on too.

I keep mine on at all times and with all the night fishing I do, I really think it should be required to wear at night.

I've always worn mine at all times while in the yak. Last October I flipped on the Norfolk River in Arkansas. The water was 48 degrees and approximately 15 feet deep plus it was really flowing. I was so glad I had my PFD on. After we got back to the cabin that night we discovered I had a slight head injury. Had it been a serious head injury and I wasn't wearing my PFD I probably wouldn't be writing this. I know they are hot and generally uncomfortable but they do save lives.

Ok, I'll be the first to admit, I don't wear one. In Texas it's not required to be worn, but you must have it easily accessible, which means you can't have it inside the kayak. Inflatable PFDs must be worn at all times when on the water, and I do wear mine when I decide to go that way. But, 90% I'm not wearing a PFD.

I wear mine when Im running some class 3 rapids or when its really cold water. If its just a regular summer day I dont. And kayaking without a life jacket is probably the safest water sport I do.

I always wear mine ... luckily its comfortable enough I usually forget I even have it on and (typically) don't even think to take it off if I get out of the yak to wade or fish a bank.
This might be the weirdest, most pointless post ever. I am not against golf, since I cannot but suspect it keeps armies of the unworthy from discovering fishing

I'm wearing mine from the time I hop in to the time I hop out. I love my family and friends to much to put them through that. Besides I don't want Zombie giving me Mouth to Mouth......

I wear mine anytime I'm in the boat so my kids won't have an excuse not to wear theirs. I used to hate wearing it but once i got used to it I feel weird not having it on.
