Not too long ago, I made a post that I had seen several carp and gar trapped at FM 4 in the Nolan River. I decided to try to see if there were any catfish there last night and I'm glad I did. In an hour and a half, I caught three channel catfish, small one being twelve and a half inches long, big one being a fat seventeen and a half inches long. Not to bad for catching trapped fish in that short of a time.

ummmm doesnt sound like catching "trapped" fish would be very hard for anybody lol. But nice job anyways! I caught 2 channels at Eagle Mountain on memorial day fishing for bass. One was 19" the other 15 3/4".

I've checked out that location several times the past couple of weeks. I'm not sure the fish are trapped, down river looks fairly open and very fishy btw. I've spotted a few carp, some small spotted gar, a few good sized longnose gar as well. Congrats on the catch! Water looks fine, take em home for a fish fry.

It's not the fact that catching them trapped is hard, but the fact that when you are fishing that way, it's not a guarantee that they are even in there because there is no major reservoir feeding this spot to the north. To explain what I mean by "trapped", when you look to the south at this spot, it's dry. Fish can't go south on the river right now. To the north, the fish would sooner or later run into a dead end as well. I know that because two days ago I was fishing at CR 1126, another access point to this river. Right now, the fish would not be able to get under the low water crossing there at CR 1126. So they are stuck somewhere between them two roads in the river.

Yep, you are correct. But it's still enough water to support them until another over flow happens. Perhaps in the next few days?!
