When slabbing is it wise to put a swivle 3ft before the slab & fly rig?

Welcome to the TFF!

I would avoid the swivel to make sure you are getting the full action of the slab. Just re-tie now and then and you should be fine.

Also, if you are in a wad of whites/hybrids, its a good idea to re-tie regularly due to the gill plates abrading the line at times.

I'm sure others will chime in soon.

Yes use an inline swivel as you described. It will prevent line twist.

Put on a medium sized split ring instead of tying direct. The flutter is improved!

I use a swivel to prevent line twist. Also try to always keep your line tight when dropping your slab back down. A lot of times they will hit it on the fall and if there is slack in the line you may not feel it.
