The original cord on my MG kept breaking at the wrong times and in the wrong places. Got the small engine pull rope as heavy as I could find and used the wire like the others to get it through. Have not had a problem now in 3 years of heavy use.

I agree with the parachute cord. Cable is fine until you enter saltwater.

The cable is stainless steel...like everything else on my bay boat You do have to make sure the little chrome bushing through the brace is still in place or the rubbing on the brace will mess up anything you use. My wife thought it looked great, but she thought I had gone down the Tim Allen "Tool Time" path...woo, wooo, wooo

Ray,
Not sure when the next Centry Club meeting is going to be held.Let me know and I can come by and drop off a length of parachute cord for you. I live right across from the VFW. The stuff works great and I have plenty to spare.

CapnJoe, Fuzzy and I got stranded once when my rope got caught underneath the trolling motor. Couldn't get it loose without taking the thing apart. Luckily it was in the summer and the water was warm. I was wading and workin' on it and Fuzzy was high and dry in the boat.

I keep yanking the rope but that darn trolling motor just won't start. Maybe it's flooded...

Thanks skeeterhawk i'll sure give it a try and see if that will do the trick, i've got pull cord from a lawnmower on it now it just don't look like it will last long that is for sure.
And thanks to joefishing for posting the date of the next meeting.

This is so weird my rope broke on my trolling motor the other day for about the 5th time and I thought that there has to be away to fix this thing. I went to my local feed store today and found some rubber coated cable that costed me 1 dollar I did not use any kind of hardware on it I just tied a good knot in the cable. I think that this is the last bit of trouble I am going to have with it......

Marc, do you have that screwdriver tethered to the T-motor so you won't loose it?? LoL! If so, what did you use to tie it up with, that might be what Ray needs!!?? LOL

I'll tell you one thing when you are in a tourney and hit your spot and nothing there, pull up the trolling motor and the only thing that comes up is the rope all you can say is +@#$+%_% Had to use a pair of neddle nose pliers that my partner had to lift and drop, around noon my partner said i have just to spot that we can fish and troll unill weigh in, this spot was so close to weigh in you could have swam to shore, well the spot was right and he started culling there, if i did not have pnamonia i know i would have had a limit easy as well, found out on monday wat was wrong, doc said i'm lucky i was not in the hospital and thanks to Paul and Eric in the club i made it home, Paul towed my boat home with my truck and Eric(cbob) drove me home in Pauls explorer, just want to say thanks to both of them for making sure i made home alive. I tried to drive home but fell asleep or passed out and ended up in the next lane, they tought i changed lanes, well i told Paul i did not change lanes but i passed out and i told him he had to drive my truck and boat home and him and Eric came threw for me, Pauls puter is down but i know Eric is on here daily so thanks bud and i look forward to maybe drawing you on the 12th on Cypress Springs.

The parachute cord really is hard to beat. It lasts a long time, and when it finally does break, only the outside cover breaks. The inside material will hold for a while, letting you finish up your fishing day without problem, then replacing it at home.

_Hey Yall: A Tip for you M-G Gator Mount owners. I have been fishing the Gator Mount I & II since they first came out...so I've learned a thing or 3 about them. _Ever notice how much easier it is to release the T/M when it's folded down in the stowed position?? It's because the fulcrum effect of the motor's weight is reduced when it's over the mount arms and resting on the frame. It's not pulling forward on the articulating arms as it does when it's deployed for use. _Next time you stow your T/M try this trick: _Put your foot on the front of the mount just behind the rope and push down while you pull up on the release rope. Once it releases remove your foot and fold down as usual. _This will help release the spring tension easier by reducing friction on the lock rod ends. _Doing this small thing greatly extends the life of your pull rope. _Good Luck and Catch A Big'un Yall! >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Bazztex<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
