Since the internet is such a huge part of our day to day lives, I was just wondering what everyone's opinions is as to how it has affected bass fishing..

I think it's mostly been positive with info, shopping and just general fraternization with fellow anglers all over the world.

I have heard a close family friend, who is in his 70's, say many times that the internet has ruined some great fisheries, in particular Falcon in South Tx. He said in the 70's and 80's its was 1000 better than now and he says the internet got the word spread like a wildfire and the pressure has changed Falcon. I do not share this opinion, but I would love to hear others opinions on the WWW and bass fishing..

I agree with your friend, I do think it puts far more pressure on lakes than it used to. Think how easy it is for people to hear about it and spread the word. Did you get to look at everyones pictures that have been down there 10 years ago with the click of a button and hear stories from complete strangers at the click of a button?

There is no doubt that increases fishing pressure on the lakes.

I don't think the net is to blame for the sudden popularity of falcon..I think that credit goes to espn and BASS.

I think one of the only negatives would be the impact on our local tackle shops. The convenience of online ordering combined with low overhead has made it impossible for most little guys to make it any more. This hasn't just impacted bass fishing for sure.

interesting topic. In my situation with work, I can't imagine trying to sell or market a product without the aide of the internet.

Now, I can see how the older generation has it to blame for exposing some secret fishing holes.

Much more good to come from the internet than the bad IMO

I don't understand why anyone would go on the Internet and post stories telling everyone how he hammered a boatload of big bass on a tiny lake...as in 1,000 acres or less.

Sam Rayburn, Toledo Bend, Falcon and even Fork are one thing, but do you really want a bunch of strangers reading your post in Dallas or Houston to be on your 500 acre lake the next Saturday competing with you for those fish?

I don't see a native impact at all. Alot of guys that only have the weekend off to fish can read about lakes they would have never know about. They can go fish them now. I'm 69 and have seen the popularity of lakes rise and fall, also every lake has a down period every so many years. With the impliment of catch and release more fish are staying in the water. I remember when we didn't have internet and I think we are better off with it.

I guess for a salesman like Mr Dickenson, they would be door to door salesmen in the old days, I never even thought of that angle of the net. I am barely am old enough to remember the door to door salesman days. My father was one in 60's, he tells me.

Internert is not only a great fishernmans fellowship tool, but an amazing learning tool. For a guy like me, who never really bass fished until he was an adult, the internet has played a key role in my learning. Thanks to the TFF and youtube!
