I found this U-tube on the net.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K9AyIxdJ2BY

I only found a few fishing reports for rigging this way and none were very successful. I have read a lot about shrimp needing to swim backwards so this does look like it should work.

What size hook you like to use on Gulp?

I like a 1/8 oz or 1/4 oz jig head. I think those hooks that are cast into the lead head are 4/0 or so.

The light the jig head the better. However, I've found that the Gulp baits seem to be a little more buoyant than other plastics and takes a bit more weight to sink 'em. I've gone has heavy as 1/4 oz jig heads in the surf. A lot depends on current, wind, waves and other conditions.

I haven't used a DOA in a long time, but if I remember correctly they back slide if you stop reeling and drop the rod tip like a shrimp escaping danger when normally rigged.

They were killers on Snook in Fl.

I saw a video a long time ago about this kid who fished a DOA super slow, imitating the way a shrimp swims, and he said that he would get a hook up almost everytime he casted. After that my buddy and I slowed our presentation way down and got a lot more successful.

What color do you guys like in the DOA Shrimp ? Seems New Penny is the general consensus in Gulp Alive.

color choice depends mostly on if the bait in the water is white shrimp or brown shrimp. Size also. I found white in the first of the year <light colors> and darker colors a little past March. Anyone else?

For the DOA or H&H TKO shrimp lures the contrasting color combos like Purple/chartreuse, Blue Moon/chartreuse, Pearl/chartreuse, Red/white, also all white or glow for me. Usually used under a popping cork, but sometimes freelined.

I've done both. Straight out the package they are tied under a cork. If I texas rig them, I am just fishing it like any other soft plastic. Both have produced for me in the past. I started buying the H&H TKO shrimp though. Cheaper than the DOA's and look very similar and the action is the same.

1/8oz jig with Gulp swimming minnows works for trouts or flounder real well.
I would setup a tandem rig so my chance can be double.
