Does anyone know how and if putting hydrogen peroxide in your live well keeps fish alive longer/better? Or of any other methods, especially on a hot day??

I carry quart bottles of lake water frozen in the ice chest. It not only helps the fish but helps by not having to buy a large bag of ice. About noon I will shut off the fresh water pumps, put in some catch and release one frozen bottle with the cap off in each side and turn on the recirculating pumps. On a really hot day I start this process earlier.

I read they did a study on the effects of hydrogen peroxide in a live well and found that it did not help. You can probably google it.

If you will use ice , please release me, and most importantly buy you one of those battery powered aerator at walmart you will not have problems. Air is the most important in hot weather because hot water has less oxygen.

I also read an article that said it didn't really help. I have read that recirculating and refreshing with fresh water is best. I use release me as well and it really seems to rejuvenate the fish.

the best is to recirculate if the water temps reach above 80. Put water in your livewell first thing in the morning and the recircualte.

http://www.slideshare.net/raminlandfish/livewell-oxygen-injection-8773301I installed this system in my boat last month before the BC tourney on Falcon. First fish in the livewell was a 10-09 @ 8am. 9 pounder added shortly thereafter and a 5 that was later replaced by a 7. Those fish were trying to jump out of the livewell at 3pm when we weighed in. I saved quite a bit of money by only buying one diffuser (nitro livewell) and getting the O2 bottle for $40. Awesome results IMHO.

just don't leave the frozen ice bottles in the livewell if you are running in rough water. unless you want to beat the fish to death!!!!
I love the smell of 2 stroke in the morning !!!

Rinse your hands off well if you have just applied sunscreen.
