This video shows a similar rig to what i have made up and keep in my boat. I use a smaller hook but same principle.

Might as well use a needle cause I cant drop the fish that deep in my livewell and its cheaper..

More contravercial on the effectiveness also. I have one rigged with a double clip for use in tournies sink em down pull em up real slow. Saved a few 7+fish that way. A quick release will suffice if the td will let you weigh in early while the fish is still strong enough to swim down.
