I thought you said above that powerbait was illegal. Here you clearly state the opposite since powerbait worms have attractant injection molded into the bait.

You can argue that with the Game Warden all you want but he specifically told me that soft plastics with attractant is illegal in the Red Zone.

I thought his statement was kinda contradictory also, maybe thats why there are so many confused fisherman running around up there

Ah see this is the problem YES it is very confusing so pay attention! power bait in the soft mold-able form {power bait nuggets, eggs or goop} are illegal, YES the power bait plastic worms we use to catch bass are at this point still legal. There in lies the problem! We tried to get the folks in OKC to ban anything with sent attractant either in it or on it but they limited their decision to just the soft forms of power baits... Hope that helps....

Like I said, the game warden up there told me on the phone that he considers powerbait plastic worms to be bait and hence illegal in the Red Zone and he is the one who will be writing the ticket so I won't take any chances.

Well the Game Warden is wrong and if he is writing tickets for 'plastic" baits they will get thrown out when you go to court....

I have never seen the "hard bait" wording used on any signs or in any literature.

Hey FFF, Bass Bug really does fly fish, but he's one of them there "warmwater" fellers.

In all seriousness, the TFF board has a mix of coldwater, warmwater, and saltwater fly fishers. There has been a running joke of making fun of each other's target fish around here for years. The comments are intended in fun... although I think some of the carp comments may be serious. laugh

Regs say "artificials only -barbless hooks- no attractant- I fish it quite often and belong to the Lower Mountain Fork River Foundation. The "no-attractant" will cover the worm question. This is for red zone. Blue zone , bait, barbed hooks, attractant are all ok. When you get to the foot bridge across Lost Creek , you are entering the Red Zone. From this point to the Evening Hole Bridge you are in the Red Zone (Spillway Creek included), Lost Creek will run back into Spillway before you get to Evening Hole bridge . All other waters in the park are "Blue Zone" . Red Zone starts again at the State Park dam and runs down stream. It is known as Zone 2. Stays that way down to approx Presbeterian Falls. You can get a map at 3 Rivers Fly shop on hwy 259 at Beavers Bend. Any questions , you can also get the phone #'s of Randy Fennel and Dru Polk (Game Wardens) on line. Fly shop will not steer you wrong.

Flankman can you please post a link to the regs, I have NEVER seen anything that states NO attractant in the red zones. In fact this is the EXACT wording pasted frm the Oklahoma fisheries Div. website

"Red Zones: (From the Lost Creek diversion structure downstream to the first Hwy. 259A scenic bridge, including the Lost Creek channel; and from the State Park Dam downstream to the mouth of Rough Branch Creek):

Rainbow trout Daily limit: one; Size limit: 20-inch minimum.
Possession of any trout less than 20-inches is prohibited.

Use of bait or barbed hooks is prohibited in the Red Zone. Fishing is restricted to barbless hooks, artificial flies and artificial lures only.

So as you can see there is nothing telling you that you can't use attractants...

BTW good luck ever getting Randy Fennel or Drew Polk to answer their phone. I have called them more times than I can count to report poachers in the park and they have yet to either answer their phones OR return my calls....

This is interesting. They define "artifical flies" to include "Artificial flies may not be made with... any substance to attract fish by taste or smell" on page 7 of the 2012 Oklahoma Fishing Guide. I would think that would mean that spray attractants are not legal on "flies". But I didn't find a definition of an "artificial lure".

So, that would make me wonder how the GW would classify what I was fishing with, as a fly or a lure??? If he calls it a fly, it would be illegal. I don't know what it means if he calls it a "lure", but I don't think I'll take the risk.
