Hey fellas.
I'm gonna be in Galveston at St. Louis resort till about Friday. Can someone help me out with som good fishing tips. Taking a fly rod that's about all I've planned for as of yet. Any info on places and successful techniques would be appreciated. I'm up for anything that lives in the water. Crabs trout shrimp drum whatever. Please help
Thanks for any input.

I have never fly fished in my life. Not even sure I could.
I use medium to heavy fresh water gear, the kind used for bass.
You can try cut bait off the jetties, are go to the 91st pier.
If you have an aerator and ice chest you can use live shrimp..Works well
You can to academy sports are wall mart on the seawall and get some gulp live, it works well all so.
If the surf is calm and clean clear water you can throw some jerk baits for specs, are shrimp (gulplive) under a popping cork.
Most of the trout have dropped there eggs and are a little skinny right now.

Like Karnavor12 the trout are in the surf..just find a spot on the beach with bait activity and throw artificials(topwater, and soft plastics) or throw live shrimp under a popping cork or free-line croaker.

There is a ton of eating places here.
If you want fried seafood, go to shrimp and stuff on 39th and O.
If you want a sandwich go to Tommy Lecrois Bistro on the strand.
If you want a steak go to Saltgrass on the seawall.
If you want soul food, go to simps on broadway.
If you want bbq go to leos cajun corner on broadway and 37th.
Anything else go to the Cajun Creek on 61st .

Those are where we locals eat, most of the time..
There is a slew of cookie cutter joes crab shacks here.
Breakfast...dennys are I hop..both on the seawall.

Shrimp n Stuff wasn't up to it's usual good food when I was there a week or so ago. Hope it was just a bad day. FWIW, I still like Guido's. I've eaten a lot of great seafood there

Guidos, you cant go wrong there if you like pre packaged foods. But then bennos, joes crab shack, brick house, bubba gumbs, and the like all buy from the same supplier.pre packaged crab cakes, fish, shrimp, stuffed shrimp, shrimp scampie, etc. all frozen delivered, warmed and served.

I've seen them catch reds and trout on TV on fly using a popper fly and shrimp imitations, but they were in the flats, not the surf.

Its interesting, but I have never done it, going to try one day.

Pfrox, that's what I plan on trying. kinda sketchy with a 4 weight set up. But it's all I got with me. I've got some clouser minnows I guess they kinda look like piggy perch but I plan on trying to pick up some shrimp patterns though.
