I broke the tip off of my rod fishing yesterday. It's a Falcon HD 7' MH action rod. Academy (the place I bought it from) said if I broke it I could take it back and get a brand new one. Do I still have to have my receipt?

I was retying in the boat and had the line out so that it was long enough to come to the reel and was tying there. Lifted the rod up and the tip was freefloating on the line.

Academy has a new policy on returns. I had to call corporate to get and all star swapped. Had recipt and the store wouldn't take it back. When corporate called the store they decided to swap it. Even corporate said its up to the store now.
