Did you fish the channel or Gulf side of the jetty?

It seems no one told the fish that the water was off color and they weren't biting. lol

Thanks for the info man and once again congrats on that beast. I hope to hook into a red like that one day. Are there any special retrieves to use with rattle traps in saltwater?

Fishing the channel with a slow yo-yo twitching retrieve along the bottom. Surprisingly i only lost one bait the whole time.
I let all go except mine in the pic, which unfortunately inhaled the rattle trap and tore up its gills and gut. I spent a lot of time trying to revive it after I got the hooks out, but to no avail. I hated to do it, but I tagged it and took it home. It's the first bull red I have ever kept, but I wish I could have had it swim off...

yeah those chrome rattletraps should work well... I'd also get a pack of flukes... white with the chart. tails... got my line broke off by who knows what at seawolf park on that...

and maybe try gulp shrimp in copper penny...

Be sure you change the hooks out for salt-water hooks before you take them to the coast, or you will have to change them when you come back anyway. The freshwater 'traps have hooks that will rust away by the time you get home. JMO.
