I have found a problem I think. I was testing some of my jigs to see how they would sit in the water and instead of sitting flat horizontally they are standing vertically like the tail is extra bouyant or something. I am testing the jigs in just tap water and with a snap swivel(I thought it would act most like a loop knot without actually tying one). It only seems to happen with the hair jigs. The first one actually sagged (it was an older jig and I don't even know what its called) The next couple acted like the tail had extra air in it or something. Has this happened to any of y'all and how do I fix it. I haven't had this problem with the plastics. Thanks for the help

WEll I fidled with one a lil bit and shortening the tail got it to lay flatter. I ended up using to of the same jigs one for a base line and the other I modified. I also noticed that the long tail jig that I used it sat a lil flatter after sitting on the counter for a while. It used to stand straight up. Could they just need to get wet for a lil while so they lay flat?

In my opinion, tying a loop knot is faster and easier than using a swivel. Try that and let us know the results. Bet problem will be solved. OR buy Jigum Jigs.

Ditto Radtexan. To my knowledge, No serious crappie fisherman or other fisherman for that matter uses a swivel to suspend the bait/lure. For crappie you need a simple loop knot which lets the jig hand horizontal. But ditching the swivel is more important in my opinion

I don't think he is actually fishing with a snap swivel, just testing to see how the jig sits. I think hollow Buck Tail is the problem.

I never had the intention of fishing with the swivel. The only time I ever use snap swivels any more are for crankbaits and inline spinners and attaching to steel leaders. and even then I rarely use them.I was just trying to see how everything would sit.
