Since they're $30 I was thinking about picking up one of the 4000 series ones and putting it on a big rod for meat soaking. Just wondering if anyone has used one, and if so how the drag system is? I've always liked the other Shimanos I've had/have so was thinking it can't be too bad.

Yes I have a 2500. I bought just to try out and was going to upgrade to a Sahara or Symetre if I liked it. Well I liked it and found no reason to upgrade at this point. Drag system is very good and it is one of the rare spinning reels I have found that does not have line twist issues.

You jerks!

I stared and considered buying that reel all three times I went to Academy in the last week...

Now I have no choice but to buy it... haha

Good reel for the price. I've had mine for 5+yrs now. Most times I remember to rinse it before I store it. In short, I simply don't worry much over it. By some standards it's been treated pretty poorly. Still gets the job done. I'd buy another when it gives out.

I like this reel, I've also had mine about 5 years and also have the 2500 but I fish freshwater so can't speak for saltwater.
