Well I broke another rod today. I just replaced this same rod about 3 months ago. Is bass pro going to let me use my gear guard again? It's a BPS Carbonlite rod so I'm hoping they will. I am looking to switch rods entirely. Idk if they will let me choose something of equal value or not, I just hope they replace it to begin with, any ideas?

Usually when they replace the rod they will ask if you want to purchase gear guard again for the rod they replaced for you. Did you purchase it on the rod they swapped out?

Also if you have gear guard on the rod you just broke they will let you swap out for something else... they let me get a higher priced rod... just had to pay the difference...

I haven't used mine but was told that it is good for 2 years no questions asked regardless of brand. I am assuming that means you can replace as many times as needed withing that period. Please let us know what the outcome is so I know whether to look forward to buying it again on a replacement if I need to.

As far as I'm concerned if my rod breaks, I should not have to buy another replacement plan. They never asked me about paying for it again. I live 2 hours away from bps so I don't know when I will be able to get down there to check on this. Fingers crossed. I'm hoping to upgrade to a Boyd Duckett or something else if they let me

You have a year warranty on BPS rods, regardless of Gear Guard or not. Just have your receipt or give phone no. at Customer service. They should fix you right up. BTW, what are you breaking them on? If fish, where and what are you using? It might make a difference on the warranty!! LOL

If you break your rod and had gear guard you can take it back no questions asked. You do however have to purchase gear guard again for the new rod. I get gear guard with every rod I buy at BPS. Its cheap insurance....I just look at it like I'm paying for warranty related shipping up front. Now if BPS would carry Dobyns I would be all set.
