Ok there are tons of very informational sites for bass fishing like bassedge.com and many others like.(typically coinciding with a bass show) Why are there not more of these for crappie fishing. What are some of the sites some of yall may use to gather more information on tips, techniques and finding fish. All info is greatly appreciated.

Bass Fishing is more popular than Crappie Fishing. Just look at the amount of viewers there are online in the Bass section compared to the Crappie section. It's almost double at any given time.

This is the best website on the net to learn from. You just have to ask the questions sincerely and understand that people aren't going to just give up their spots but will usually tell you what depth they are finding fish and what jigs are working well for any particular lake.

I have not checked in at Crappie.com in awhile, but may be worth your time to peruse the site.....

Another option would be to book a tutorial trip with a Crappie Guide, this will definitely increase your knowledge base quickly.

IMHO, there is nothing like TOW to help you figure out what works for you.

+1 on a guided trip.
I've leaned more from guides than I ever would have on my own.
Book bigcrappie.com for a half day trip with a buddy for about $150 each. You'll be glad you did, I promise. They all seem to have the heart of a teacher and know more about crappie fishing than the rest of us will ever learn. Highly recommend.

As Stucky stated, this is probably one of the most informative sites on the internet. There is a wealth of information shared throughout the calendar year. You could essentially pick a half-dozen of your favorite contributors on the TFF site and gather more information from those half-dozen contributors by reading all of the posts created by them than you could in most crappie angling literature.

The bass fishing industry and the crappie fishing industry are two totally different beasts. Pick up a BassPro catalog and you can easily see why there are more resources directed at educating, entertaining and attracting the bass anglers hard earned dollars. That statement is not to put down crappie anglers or to say we as a group don't buy high dollar boats, etc. Yet on average, your bass angler probably has a higher investment in boats, tackle, lures and other paraphenilia on average.

Hang around the TFF Crappie forum and you will pick up lots of information and make a few friends in the process.

Jeff

Here's some good info on choosing jigs;
http://www.slabmesilly.com/THECRAPPIE/SUB-PAGES/HOWTOchooseAJIG.html
There are some good crappie magazines out there with articles by good crappie fishermen who know what they're doing such as Crappie Angler put out by Grizzly Jigs.

Competitive bass fishing spawned a multi-billion dollar industry and it's been that way for 40 years. Crappie fishing is still primarily a fun, and family event. Bass fishermen believe you have to have a $45,000+ boat and $250+ rods to be competitive and buy every new gadget that comes along like a power pole. Crappie fishermen are looking for table fare first and they know you don't need a power pole to catch crappie. Of course, we're beginning to catch up. Just read here, and you'll see how many folks are now buying side scan for the console and trolling motor.

The TFF is a great place to pick up info. I've saved some crappie websites in an info folder that I'll try to organize and post later. But here is one that will give you a couple of evenings reading. Also, most tips are good, but some are ??!!
