I agree......

Trophy hunter and Mineola falls on the rattlesnakes.
Zoom finesse, tons of color choices. Watermelon anything or green pumpkin anything will get you bit.

Man if you wanna catch decent bass just take the short drive to Huntsville state park (lake raven) spro frogs and t rigged creature baits. Work the north end lily pads and you should tear them up. Only thing is its all catch and release on bass. One thing to note is there are lots of Gators

Anything with a GrandeBass RattleSnake on it. T-rig weightless, 1 oz. tungsten weight, or 1/8 oz. weight; Shakey Head; C-rig; Wacky Rigged with or without a weight; & Drop Shot. Very, very, very versatile bait.

I don't know if you can swing it, but I've had the best luck fishng new waters by hiring a guide for the first day allowing them to teach me about the body of water. If you can't do a full day, consider a half day. They've always been very helpful and it will pay big dividends for the balance of the trip.

If you can't swing a guide, I'd plan to have something to test all the water columns. Topwater frog or 'walk the dog' bait for dawn/dusk. A swim/spinner or crank bait for suspended/schooling/feeding fish and then something to fish the bottom. Once you find the fish, you can tweak color and presentation. Sometimes in the dead of the summer heat the bass down here get a little lethargic. That's when I turn to drop-shot/shakey head and other finess presentations.

The specific baits mentioned above work well. A weightless worm (rattlesnake/senko/dinger) works well in the heat also.

Good luck and enjoy your time in Texas.

Brent
