I was just driving back from work and I noticed some amazing looking lakes right off of I-30 between Irving and Grand Prairie. They have tons of structure, half-sunken trees, islands, etc. Has anyone ever fished them? Anyone know if they are even stocked? Judging by their proximity to what look to be quarry sites, I would say they are old quarry sites that have since filled with water. Thanks!

Fished there many, many years ago. We went in from the north side, where the levee and the water treatment plant is located. I launched my aluminum flatbottom boat with a trolling motor. Caught quite a few bass that day but no size. It was my first and only time to fish there but I know others who fished those ponds regularly back in the day. They caught some big bass (up to 7-8 lbs) in some of them but they were extremely tight-lipped as to which ones they actually fished.

Thanks, looks like I'll be checking it out this weekend then, instead of trying to navigate through the madness on fork!

I have fished this back in the early 90's. I loved it. many small bass but fun catching. maybe with time they're big bass now. i used a tennessee shad bomber fat A from a flat bottom and a trolling motor. it is a sweet little pond. keep us posted on how it is nowadays.

I've fished there many times over the last 35 years. The ponds right by hunter ferrel all dried completley up last year so they are useless right now. The ones right on the corner of I30 have plenty of small bas in them and will usually hit anything. Always done good on white spinners in there. Only bad thing is those ponds are full of carp and spotted gar too.

I was planning on just pulling off of I-30 to get down to the water, is that the best way or is there a better road on the north end?

The way i got there was pulling off of I-30 right when the gaurd rail ends. the trinity runs on the north end. i caught most fish along the bank with the railroad tracks in the mornin when the shade is there.
