Top water, looks like a pop-r, but out fishes a pop-r by a mile in most circumstances. I'm sure you can find more by doing a google search.

I'll tell you this, it's all I throw in that style of topwater. Pop it, walk-the-dog, fleeing baitfish, whatever.

I fished a 100 ac. private lake a couple weeks ago. The ranch manager said the fish were on a good worm and pop-r bite. I threw a jig and a yellow majic and caught 4-to-1 more fish than anyone else on the trip. They were all bumming jigs/trailers and yellow majics after the first evening's arse whoopin'.

The guides were throwing pop-r's and their back seaters were throwing borrowed yellow magics. They whooped the guides and the pop-r's something fierce. I dunno why, but it is the best topwater of its style, bar none. The only other thing that comes close is a Rico.

What makes the yellow magic so much better than say a pop-R? I'm tempted to get a couple but i'm not sure if their worth it.....

There's no doubt, for me at least, that the Yellow Magic outfishes other popping style lures. Like what's been said earlier in this thread, I have fished a YM alongside someone else with a seemingly similar lure, and I'll catch 4 for every 1 they catch - both of us fishing the same retrieve and cadence. I've done this many times - enough that I know it's not just simple coincidence.
