I was doing some cleaning in my backyard stuffing twigs into a bag and saw this little guy. I was wondering what kind of snake you think it is? It was beheaded because im not sure what kind of snake it is and my kids were in the back yard. Thanks in advance.

Totally harmless. Too small to even bite. Keep the bugs away is all they do.

Definitely a Texas Brown Snake. Their average maximum length is 12-14''.

Not a snake fan but a dead snake is usually a safe one.

Thats a copper headed rattler moccasin. Very deadly species that can spit venom up to 6 feet. Be very, very careful!
