Went out this morning and my trim worked fine until it was time to load the boat. I was by myself so I beached the boat and backed the trailer in. When I pushed off from the beach, cranked up and went to trim down I heard a horrible squeaking noise.

I don't know what the parts are called but I know where the squeaking is coming from. When the motor comes down to the transom mount it is rubbing the transom mount.

I didn't hit anything or have anything weird happen. Three questions. Is it normal for those parts to rub? If it is what is with the sudden squeaking noise? If it isn't what would have caused it? Again, worked fine on multiple runs this morning and I didn't hit anything.

Any ideas?

Note: It actually pops loose when you trim up from the down position once it clears the mount.

After googling "Squeaky trim on Yamaha" it seems pretty normal.

TFF thread with same problem

Grease the rods, the cylinder, and the joints. Got it. One more. What kind of grease?

Marine grade grease in the tube. You'll need a grease gun for it.
