Been going out to Belton and Stillhouse frequently for the last few weekends. I have only caught one small LMB on a white rooster tail. Struck out every other time I went.
I have thrown the whole tackle box at them, spinnerbaits, buzz baits, rattletraps (used to work great a few years ago), Carolina rigs, dropshots, jigs, slabs, chatterbaits, top water poppers ect. and nothing. I even went to the good old live worm and bobber and not so much a tap.
I am thinking I am going to try out Inks lake or even LBJ which I am hearing alot of good things about on this forum. I think the drought we had has really ruined the fishing. I know some guys are catching them but I sure as heck havent.
On a good note, the Lakemaster chip I put in my Humminbird works really well!

Where on Stillhouse are you trying? I've haven't been in almost two weeks but over near the bridge has produced some fish for me.

Same thing here on Belton. I went to Lake Waco on Saturday and caught an 8lb LM along with others then went to Belton on Monday and nothing. Not even a nibble. I live five mintues from Lake Belton and in the last four trips I have caught maybe three fish. They are having a bass tournment this weekend, it will be interesting to see the weigh-ins.

Good news is when you go to other lakes it's like a holiday.

I like Belton better than Stillhouse but I caught 4 in about 4 hours yesterday on Stillhouse. Broke off on another. Where abouts are you fishing? What colors? How deep?
I have a Largemouth at home....sometimes she lets me go fishing.

Belton is one if the toughest lakes to fish in Texas. Fish don't pattern well and they key on bait more than anything. The bait has been scattered the last couple of weeks, so its been tough. 3 weeks ago was unreal for big fish. Just keep trying and you'll get on them sooner or later.
Stillhouse will get more consistent as the grass spreads out and grows better.

Stillhouse...c-rig in 20-30 feet off of points with structure
Belton...go to Stillhouse
I grew up fishing Stillhouse when the grass was everywhere...it was so easy to fish. Since it died, came back somewhat, dissappeared again, fishing has been really tough.
Get it done, no excuses.

Lake Georgetown belongs in the same category as Stillhouse and Belton - tough.

Agreed. Gotta find the shad, wade through the whites/hybirds cause the LM's will run with them. This time of year Belton is definetly a milk run type lake. Gotta hit alot of different spots to catch'em.

Belton is a beating and has been for years. We just quit going. Rather we quit fishing for LM.
Run to LBJ when you can. Fish are still up shallow in most of the coves.
A lot of small fish at LBJ but one last weekend that was 8.5 lbs.

I have used the basic set of colors, white, green, watermelon, pumpkinseed, shiny-flashy stuff ect. but just no luck. I have been pretty much all over both lakes. I see fish on the electronics but I guess they are not hungry.
I used to make a killin' on a seafoam rattletrap. Historically for me I have had better luck at Stillhouse then Belton.
The thing is, I dont see anyone else on the lake boating fish either, so it doesnt seem to be just me.
LBJ for me this weekend.
