Went out this morning to take the family for a little trip. Bought them 2 dozen minners and headed out, we were out of minnows in about 20 minutes and had boated around 20 fish. Luckily two friendly older gentlemen were headed in and stopped by to see if we wanted their left over (5 doz) minnows. We finished off the day with only 12 keeps but we tossed back somewhere in the neighborhood of 50 9-91/2 inch fish. It was a great day on the water with the wife and kids!!

I went Saturday morning and caught so many fish in that 9-9 1/2" range that i lost count. What depth did you find your fish in? Most of my keepers where just off the bottom in 9-12 fow.

Most were in 12-15 foot on the bottom. We did catch a few in the shallower water but all smalls. The biggest keepers were in 14 foot and one to two feet off the bottom.

Mineral Wells has some huge Crappie, but the big ones get taken early. All those 9 1/2 inch fish will be 10 inches or better by October. The lake is a great place to fish if you know where they are. Avoid week ends and holidays unless you like crazy crowds.

I've been twice in the past two weeks and that lake is full of 8-9 inch fish. Like Smithaven said around October or November there should be a much better number of keepers.
