Tried both, I stick with a M for square bills.

Well that's about where I am 50/50 on the subject. Think I've decided on the 6'9" med duckett. Hope it's a good one. Thanks Adam

Medium heavy for me all day long. I cannot stand a limp, dead feeling crankbait rod. I usually use squarebills in the heaviest cover I can get away with and a MH just fits the deal to me. I also love a 6'8"-7' rod as well especially in tight quarters. The Dobyns Savvy 704C is awesome and I just got the Dobyns Coalition 704C and love it too for squarebills.
I just don't have the issues losing fish with a MH rod that some here say they do. I have caught fish over 10lbs on a squarebill using a MH rod. I do not see any catch rate difference from a M to MH in my fishing at all.

A medium action rod has my vote for casting a squarebill, especially in windy conditions when a heavier rod will not load up and cast as well. The lighter action rod will help to keep bass hooked on treble hooks and cast lighter baits much better. I hope this helps!

Medium heavy. I use the Dobyns Champion 705 CB Glass for square bills and I don't feel I've ever lost a fish because of the extra backbone in the rod. Comes in handy with bigger fish though. +1 Best shallow cranking rod ive ever used....probably the best built too, imo.

I use the duckett 6'6", Duckett 7' and cara 7' medium cranker and have never had a problem losing fish. I throw floro on both Ducketts and mono on the falcon "I use it for top water too"
