Good question. I bought a green LED with a halogen spot on the end of it to see how it goes. I like the LED's down the length of the boat but not sure I want to mess with it.

I use green leds that are mounted to the transom and they work great. The green doesnt attract the bugs as much as a white light but still brings in the fish. I got mine from www.coastalnightlights.com Great guy to deal with and best customer service Ive seen in a long time.

I have several now that I have had, all green lights and well made, none cheap. I am planning on buying some more though and they will be the Real Lights. Right now I have one 36" long one that's old style (not easy on a battery), but lots of light and it's name is the Fisherman's Green light. I also have 2 LED style that come from http://jumpingchollajigs.com/ and these are almost indestructible. The are easy on the batteries and I sue 2 of them. I got some aluminum strips from the hardware store that are like 1 1/4" wide and I just attached the wire to these and the little round puck light has a rubber suction cup that I stick on one end and I bent the aluminum strip to fit over the side of my boat so they can hang into the water about a foot.
