I've heard this from 2 people on opposite ends of the state. One a former employee and the other a contractor doing dirt work at the supposed site. Any body else heard about it?

I heard it also, but I don't believe it. Supposedly it is going in somewhere near the movie theater on Eastman Road.

Is that what they are building where they are doing that huge amount of dirtwork between Hwy 259 and Tryon Rd.?

man that would rock! academy and gander both are terribkle here in town. I am straight tackle warehouse but this could change some things. Marketing wise its a very good choice. Dallas and Shreveport are too far for me to justify driving, and there is alot of outdoorsman in the Tyler/Longview area. Hope its true.

Based on population and the fact there is one in Shreveport and 2 in DFW, I would figure Tyler would be a much better market than Longview.

I agree Ben, I think Tyler would be better as well but.....
I'll take Longview, beats driving into Shreveport. The place on Tryon is going to be a retirement home etc according to the guys doing the dirt work, I serviced 5 wells off Tryon Road and talked to them quite a few times as they were using my lease road.
Either way, we need one. Gaydar mtn is almost pitiful and Academy seems to be following them down that road. It's impossible to get high end gear here unless you go to the internet or Dallas/Shreveport. We could fully support a BPS I believe, every 3rd driveway in E Tx has a bass boat in it.

tyler would be the logical place for sure. They ought to think about sticking one in Del Rio or Zapata, that way the elites can fish falcon or amastad and maybe bring the opens back to them

Yeah right! There is no way a BPS is coming to Longview. I do agree on one thing, the Academy here is bad. The reason, out of everything all the time and takes forever to restock.Wish a nice independent store would come in, I would support it.

You guys complaining about the other major outdoors stores - BPS isn't even a little better. If anything they're probably more expensive. Aside from Walmart I would pick almost any other store named so far.

Just heard it from a lady in south Texas and one of the contractors that we do work for. oh no, there goes the rest of my check weekly

I don't complain about price, I complain about availability. I'll pay a little more to be able to get what I need when I need it (need is a very relative term, none of us "need" 99% of this [censored] we have for chasing little green fish we don't even eat).
