You're gonna need to pray hard because anyone going out on the lake in 20-30mph winds is asking for it. Already had to change my plans because of the wind. Good post!

Amen brother.

And let's give God the glory for our safety to this point.

Drinking can be done back at the house.

Tight lines everyone.

Thanks for the posts guys. I've had this on my heart for about a month now w/ all of the posts about stumps, idiots, and inconsiderate people. Just remember you don't have to fall into one of those catagories to get hurt or killed. Ten years ago my nephew was in his senior year at Baylor and the stripers were biting on Whitney. He and his friend after their last final, threw their gear into the boat and I'm almost sure a couple of beers and headed out. They got to the lake and headed up the river and as they approached the bridge just out of Cedron they were'nt paying attention and bumped one of the pilings on the bridge. They were both thrown out and the boat carooned out of control in a tight circle. The first time it came around it almost cut his right arm off at the shoulder. As the water filled with blood the boat came around again and almost cut his right leg off at the knee.At this point he could not swim or stay afloat.A man coming behind them and seeing what hadhappened, stopped.Even though he could not see my nephew his friend told the stranger there was another young man under the water.Noticing a line going over the side of the boat the man dove down using the line as his guide and retrieved my nephew out of 17 feet of water just in time. When the boat crashed and he went over board his top water lure hung in the collar of his shirt. The reel was in free spool so he stayed hung up.How the propeller didn't cut or tangle in the line as it circled is mind boggling to me. He was careflighted to Dallas and both limbs were saved but with massive scar tissue and he was left with a life long limp at age 20.We all(the family)spent a terrible week in ICU praying for him to make it.Just two unassuming youngsters in the prime of their life wanting to go fishing for an afternoon. He's a wonderful Chritain young man that learned more than his share about boating safety in one afternoon but thank God he made it out alive and still enjoys fishing as much as ever. So, you don't have to be an idiot or be drunk to get maimed or killed...it could happen to anybody.

P.S.The surgeon stated that if had occured on Lake Waco he would have surely lost both of his limbs to infection due to all the bacteria in the water from the Dairies that dump their waste into the Bosque. powdr

You are so right here. Many prayers. I spent time on a dive team in law enforcement as a Public Safety Diver and my specialty was bagging bodies underwater in zero visibility after the search team found them. Words cannot describe the pain I saw in the faces of the family members. I know we can't fix stupid but maybe the Lord can keep it to a minimum.
