Got off work a bit early from day job, had some time to kill till night job, so i headed out to BPS Grapevine to stock up. The BPS rooster tail knockoffs were on sale for 97 cents! Guess who stocked up on 1/6 th oz roosters? Picked up some jigs and 1/8 oz jigheads(unpainted). OK now what?

On way back remembered a pond in the Belt Line/Royal area that i hadn't hit since last winter! Rigged up a Rooster knockoff, and immediately started hooking up with LMB's! Crystal clear water, duckweed along the bank, algae in front of the duckweed and as the water deepened, hydrilla! Couldn't ask for better bass habitat. Landed over 20 in less than an hour, all but one dinks, but still fun.

Switched over to tube jig, red/chartreuse, 1/32 oz UNPAINTED jig head, and found the sunfish beds! Landed 9 green sunfish hybrids in about 20 minutes ALL OF THEM IN THE 8-10 INCH RANGE! Caught one of the biggest longears i have ever caught, he was 7-8 inches.

The only sad part is that i did not have my camera! All fish were released, even the hawg bream!

BTW. caught all these fish between 2 PM and 3:30 and the temp was hovering between 90 and 92!

Good times

Rudy

In case you were wondering about size of hybrid greenies, I used one of the BPS ultralight rods that has the inches marked and numbered on it, so it was easy to sling em out of the water, hold em to the "ruler", unhook em and release em.

Caught more bass and greenies today than on Tuesday. Sunnies went from 7 inches to 9, and bass went from 4 inches to 14. Tube jigs for greenies, Rooster tail for bass. Only one Longear, smaller than tuesday's monster, no bluegills at all.

Those greenies are good fighters on UL gear!!!
