I've been fishing several different ponds, and usually the bite is very good and steady, but here lately, you have to work really hard to get bit, and one lure doesn't really hold steady. Does anyone have any tips that might help me out? Some are more open than others. Some are COVERED in hydrilla and such. Some are really clear, others are fairly muddy. What lures and techniques might work really well?

Weightless flukes and a dropshot in the ponds you can use it in. Also a frog on the ones with lots of hydrilla. Might also try a big 1oz weight pegged with a texas rigged plastic of your choice and try punching the hydrilla. Just some thoughts.

I love a t-rigged senko in ponds. Wacky trick worms usually kill em too.

Lake Fork Trophy Lures Live Magic Shad on a Gamakastu Swimbait Hook. Watermelon Red for clear water and Tilapia for slightly stained. Run it along edges of cover/grass then just wait for your line to start swimming off. Pond bass can't seem to resist it!!

T-rigged weightless senkos (green pumkin) or T-rigged weightless flukes (baby bass). Certainly frogs (even in open water) and if at all possible try a small square bill crankbait (Bomber Square A, Cordell Big O, or a Srike King KVD Square bill). These have all worked for me.

I'll have to agree on the t-rigged senkos. Most of mine have been caught on them lately in the ponds I've been fishing. Especially on the edges of weeds/grass. Green pumpkin and red shad colors.

Man if you get out there a little before sun-up, throw a black buzzbait. Lets em know ur there, and anything around usually cant resist it. Rattletraps are good too. If theres alot of hydrilla, cut off the front hook on front treble. If water is stained, then a t-rigged 7" power worm in blue-fleck or watermelon anything. Worms should hold a steady bite all day long. Clear water go with natural colors, and stained go with chartreuse and brighter colors. Good luck to ya!

Also if you know the pond has a decent population of bass, just keep fishing - they gotta eat sometime.

On the more open ponds try shad. Baby bass 3" shad always work well in my ponds. I also have to agree with everyone else on the Texas rigged senkos.

Baby Bass 5" senko t rigged, I will wear them out all day. Then go senko with a nail in the rear. Gives them a different presentation after t rig wears them out.

Senkos and flukes will always work in heavy pond grass. Watermelon and pumpkin work best fr me.
