Headed down to port a friday afternoon, got up semi early on saturday. Went to get bait and headed out to the bayside near shamrock island to do some kayak fishing. Was on the water roughly around 8:30ish or so and headed out for my first trip in my new (to me) yak. I recently purchased a used tarpon140 as me and my stephdad have decided to get into kayak fishing.

anyways the paddle from where we launched was easy going as the wind was at our backs, about 15 mins or so later we come up to the area were gonna fish and anchor down. Got everything in place and started casting. My stephdad ending up catching the first red of the day after about 20 mins after anchoring down. it was a keeper at around 22"

Decided to drift a little ways and anchor down in some good looking sandy/grass areas. Started casting and i eventually hooked into my first red of the day and it was a beast, was using light tackle and it was making my reel scream. It was an awsome way to start the mourning, its been along time since i have hooked up with a decent size red. Ended up being around 24 " or so.

I would end up limiting out and my stephdad was half an inch short of limiting out before we heading back. Bite died off around 11 ish give or take a few.

all in all it was an awsome trip even more awsome for the first outing in my kayak. Ended up with 5 good keepers, and a smirk that has yet to dissipate. Weather was sunny but with some clouds lurking around. Here are a couple pics. Not the best quality but pics none the less.
