fish I'm planning on going to Hubbard Friday and the wind is going to be out of the south At 20 mph. Are the fish going o be on the north side of the lake? I just bought a elite x4 and am dying to get it out. Other wise I wouldn't be going out.

I never fish the north side for whites and hybrids though i have caught them there while bass fishing. I have caught some of my biggest hybrids on the far south end of the lake with a Medium Heavy wind blowing out of the south.

I would head towards the dam, better fishing and less south wind.

Thanks guys. Think a 17 foot xpress will be ok if I put in at Heath? hmmm just don't want to kill my buddy and myself before our striper trip Saturday.

Put in at harbor bay. Very protected entry point there. Just a longer ride to the dam.

Philcat, that Heath ramp is very unprotected , and can be very sketchy loading and unloading. Chandlers, is you're best bet to hug the east side, all the way till you hit open water there at Yankee. Then it gets rough for a bit, but yes it can be done. I'd be careful in a 17 footer. Those waves get big coming around that point!!

Good luck
Mike

I have a 17ft boat... And all I'm gonna say is if there's 20mph winds... On Hubbard... Don't go! And if u do.... Wear frogs toggs and leave bilge on!!!! Wear your life jacket for sure and don't forget to clip the kill switch on your life jacket!

You are a brave soul!

Ha! Just take it easy and you will be fine... Still gonna get wet but you should be fine

Accuweather says 10-15mph for Friday. Should get some good gust but like luv says, hug the east side till u get up south and you'll be ok bud. Good luck out there.

I would wait in a 17 express JMO! Getting there won't be so bad going against the wind. It is the coming back that will be a dandy. It is always a wilder ride coming back with the wind. Is your boat aluminum? it is going to beat you pretty bad. But like stated before : WEAR YOUR LIFE JACKET and KILL SWITCH!!!!! Good luck smile I would go to lavon on a windy day . Most of the ramps are on the south end of the lake

The only water my boat will see is the car wash later today. The weather man is saying we may get a break on the winds Sunday.

+100 I have been arguing this point with Amanda for two years. I definitely think the ride into the wind is better than coming back with it!!

Take it from 2 ppl who have a 17'... That lake gets too choppy to try and make it across. Even launching down by the dam and trying to fish down there could be rough.
