Has anyone fished here? From what I've read it is a good LMB lake. Also apparently has some gators???? Any info/tips would be appreciated. The in-laws are camping there this weekend and we are going out to visit for a while.
On a different topic, does anyone carry their yak on top of a Tahoe with factory rack (not Z71)? We will be in the Tahoe this weekend, and I am trying to decide if I should try hauling the Pescador up there for the 4 hours or so to Huntsville. I will probably only get a 1/2 day of fishing at most, so I am not sure if it is worth it.
Thanks for the input.

I'm hittin HSP next month. I will be looking to see how you do. Good luck.
As for the Tahoe rack---I've heard ops both ways. I've seen plenty of yaks on tahoes.

I don't see how it wouldn't work on top of your Tahoe. I have my rack on my factory Toyota 4Runner.

i haul my drifter on my tahoe all the time! How do you do it? My plan was to put some pool noodles around the factory cross bars and then strap it down deck side down. From what I read it is wise to strap to the front and back bumpers as well. I usually just throw it in the truck, so car topping is new to me.

I used to carry my yak on my Ford Excursion. At first I used an inexpensive Malone carrier with foam type racks and the factory rack. That worked but it was a struggle to load and unload and I put a few scratches on my truck. Later I spent a bunch of money on a Thule rack system designed for my truck and it worked better but had the same results. Eventually I moved to a trailer and if I knew then what I know now I would have saved the money spent on racks and started with a trailer!
I recommend you get a trailer as soon as possible and save yourself time, money and wear and tear on you truck.
Fishing Lake Raven can be very rewarding. It can also be very slow but I've had good luck fishing frogs in the pads and shore line grass and weightless senkos (usually dark colors)on the edges of cover (grass, pads and lay downs). Some luck trolling a medium diving crank bait but the soft plastics are the most productive for me. Good luck! It's a beautiful place to paddle.

Thanks for the advice Forever Fishing. I usually carry my yak in the back of my truck, but since this is a family outing, we will be in the Tahoe. So, I don't want to spend the money on racks since I won't use them often, and I don't have a good place to store a trailer right now.
I've never been to Raven before, hopefully I will have one of the rewarding trips! Thanks for the info.

I have seen people make trailers out of the folding harbor freight trailers before....seems like that might be an idea for you if youre spaced cramped....

we have a bed extendor from harbor freight which is about 50 bucks. and we put the kayaks in the bed of the truck which our bed is about 6 feet. and ratchet strap them down through the scupper holes traveled about 80 miles with 3 yaks and didn't have any problems
Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn
