I know u get what u pay for. But I also know u pay more for some names. I'm wanting to get a new 5wt setup. I have looked at the Allen fly fishing rods and there about $180. I don't mind paying for a quality rod and reel but in theses times a deal is always welcome.
What are ur suggestions on a rod and a reel.

In that price range I'd suggest looking at TFO's Pro series. The 5 wt is about $149 and TFO rod tubes start at $20. These are 4 pc rods and I'd call them more of med fast action. The rods have a lifetime warranty and TFO has great customer service. Their goal is a 24 hr turn around on any warranty claims. The 9 ft 5 wt is one of their top selling rods.

I think you're in Paris. The closest dealer is probably Three Rivers Fly Shop up in Broken Bow or there are several dealers in the Dallas area. Or if you're not in a hurry come join us at Eisenhower state park Saturday, June 16. You can cast some demo rods and get a free casting lesson too if you want one. Casting the rod yourself is the best way to pick the best rod for you.

Good luck!

I strongly agree Buy American for products and highly respect the views of all, but that just isnt the real world we live in today.

When used for fly tackle selection of manufacturers that I greatly respect that provide high quality affordable products that are not available from U.S. up-scale companies, "Buy American" should not be the only option.

Im not hi-jacking this thread - I am honoring the freedom to buy as many fly rods as I can afford, be them American or whatever...

Be safe this Memorial Day and remember our fallen heroes.

George if my saying "buy American "offends you, then I 'm sorry about that. But if your offended by that then that's too bad but apples to oranges, but there are other companies besides the one that you endorse every chance you get!

I would NEVER offend by unintended remarks for our freedom of choice just before Memorial Day.
The very best to you my friend

Many rod manufacturers out there.Buy what you can afford and are comfortable with.I started with a Cabelas moved on to Tfo.
Now I'm into American rods ,maybe I can get a job endorsing Scott or Sage.
Happy Memorial Day all stay safe and BUY AMERICAN

Buy what you can afford & you like...the fly fishing industry all lumped together doesnt even make a blip on the screen when looking at the big picture, hell TFO probably provides more jobs & money in this country because of their Chinese manufacturing (ie; shipping, more sales, savings spent on other fly gear) you would (or maybe wouldnt ) be surprised at how much foreign material there is in Sage & Winston & Scott rods...you can run but you can't hide. flag

if you're worried about buying American, go buy a house or some cars or some stock...a damn fishing rod aint nuthin'
