Figures! I have been trying different lines for a while now and found one that after 6 months on the reel still has very low memory and comes off very smoothly. But I don't remember which line it was. Anybody had any luck with a low memory, small diameter, 17lb line? I'm up for trying mono, fluorescent or braid.

cajun21... I have just started using Cajun Line Company's Cajun Red Cast, super smooth cast low memory. However, I have not needed as large a test as 17lb. I have only tried the 6lb on my Crappie rigs. The line I replaced with this one however, was supposed to be low memory and it coiled terribly, so I am happy with my new choice. I also have the Cajun Red Lightnin' High Abrasion Resistance in a 10lb but have not spooled it as yet. I took several yds off the spool and it looks good. These are by Shakespeare. Both types are red in color.
Have you tried this brand/type?

There's a new line out that claims vertually no memory called Sufix. It sells afor about 7 or 8 dollars and seems to be some pretty sweet stuff. I'm using it to spool all my reels this weekend.

Low memory for line left on a reel for 6 months seems like a tall order. Even the best line will start to curl eventually. I'd advise changing your line more often. Frequency of change depends on how much and how hard you fish. Also, a spray down with Blakemore rod and reel saver will help to soften the line.

I was refering to mono. Braids and fusion lines won't curl.

Power Pro...it's somewhat stiff when you first spool up with it, but after one or two outings, it's usually broken in pretty well, and then it's limp as all heck.

Cajun, if you fish more than 1 time a week, I'd respool your line every 3 months. 6 months is too long, period. I know tournament guys that respool after each trip.

T-line was the lowest memory mono that I have ever used. It was coffee brown in color but I don't know if it is still around any more.

I use Mc Coy Mean Green. The best I've seen.

I've been YoZuri Hybrid and have been pretty happy with it ...

Look for lines that are specialized for Ice Fishing. I've seen a Berkely one that was a brilliant blue and was ultra-low memory; but that was a while back.

Chad, the prob with ice fishing lines is that they are not very strong. When you catch fish through the ice, they don't fight very hard. I saw an 18+ lb pike caught on 4 lb test. It came through a hole made with a 6" auger. I was shocked.
