I am kindof old school in that I still love my old flasher for running down the lake. It gives me instant readings where my chart is running behind. Now that flashers are a thing of the past what do you use when running on the lake?

They still make them but I'm ok with my HB unit. With GPS and Navionics I'm pretty confident of where channels are and where it's safe to run.

No experience with the newer models but my HB 595c has an option of a small vertical 'window' that shows realtime reading, basically the same as the vert rh side of the sonar screen and has gps and a card slot. Might want to check features/options on different models and still have some more modern options too. They still make flashers but all I remember seeing were indash models.

I'm not old. My bobbers just float a little lower than they used to.

My flasher is an in-dash unit. I have a Lowrance unit and use it extensively on structure, but i was raised fishing with the old flasher so it's like a security blanket I guess. Its just a good tool to use running down the lake. The reason I ask is that my brother has one as well, and his is going out. He said he was having trouble finding another one. Just made me curious in what other people use that dont use the old flashers.
